Why Jubilee?Why Encapsulation?

Hello! Whitley here. I think some of you might have some questions. They say " curiosity is one of the great secrets of happiness". I do believe that. I was always taught to be curious and I am a happy person. I'd like to bring you on my journey of happiness and curiosity.

It all started in 2015. I was planning my third birth and it was going to be at home, unasissted. I had researched and researched, to create the safest environment possible and to be prepared for any unexpected issues that could arise.I was given a primer on delivering babies by a room full of OBGYN's in Haiti so I was feeling confident. In my research, I stumbled on placenta encapsulation. It made sense to me. My last two births were hard and I ended up with PPD (postpartum depression) that lasted months. It made enjoying my babies so difficult. I wanted to set myself up with success for this last birth of mine. I was armed with knowledge and ready for my baby. Unfortunately, in the midst of the excitement of an unassisted home birth, the placenta never made it to the freezer so that I could process it later. I found it in a black trash bag 3 days later hanging on a doorknob. *womp* *womp*

In 2021 I was asked by 4 friends to become a midwife. I couldn't do the training at the time. However, I wanted to support them in their births in some way. I started encapsulating their placentas for them. I fell in love. I loved providing this service, knowing these moms would be enjoying the fruits of their and my labor for almost a year later! I decided to take some time and become a certified placenta encapsulator. In 2023 I finished the training and am now an official Placenta Specialist.

My dream is that all births create a sense of excitement, joy, and feeling of connectedness that could be deemed a time of "jubilee". Providing placenta encapsulation is my way of adding to that. I dream of using my gifts as an opportunity to support, encourage, and care for the momma's and babies that I service. Congrats on your new bundle, I can't wait to meet you!
